The beginning of the end?

I've only been blogging since July, barely 6 months.

I won't lie, I've had a rough time since mid December. I can't go into details here as it's quite personal, but my self esteem took a battering.

But even so I feel pathetic. I am lagging so far behind the rest of you. I have no idea even what to look for should I have time to go shopping. I seem to spend most of my time talking to mental health / other health teams / at fracture clinics / ordering & collecting medication / running two households...

I am now a carer for my elderly parents, mother has dementia as well as a broken arm at the moment. Dad has Parkinson's disease. I am still working. I am not sure the time excuse 'washes' however, as I am sure I would fine time to shop / take an interest in my wardrobe if only I had the energy.

I am not by nature a quitter though - so will fight the urge to throw in the towel.

My blog may take a diversion into the realms of rambling about work / life / everything else balance - but bear with me - I can't put up with this state of affairs for long - never mind anyone else!

I am sorry for this exceedingly pathetic post - but thought I should show up and write something!

  1. Hang on in there please. Life sounds pretty tough for you at the moment, I wouldn't know where to start. You need to focus on what counts, don't worry about keeping up with people - that's not what it's about.

    Big hug x

  2. My Dad has Parkinsons too - I find that distressing without every else you have in addition. Be kind to yourself. It sound like you have an overload of responsibility ! I have a post coming out tomorrow about something I am facing with my Dad - sometimes it is just better to write about what is in front of your nose rather than to try and do what you think you should - don't disappear - perhaps use it as an outlet instead? People find strength for their own difficulties when sharing others. Sending you lots of love. Xxxx

  3. Be kind to yourself. You obviously have an enormous amount of pressure on you at the moment so no wonder you have lost the will to blog a little! Blogging isn't a contest, it is about doing what is right for YOU. If you fancy a break from blogging - so be it, if you fancy a rant in a post - so be it. This blog is a place for you. Life is flipping hard and sometimes just putting out how you are feeling really helps you. Sending you a big hug :)

  4. Glad you did take the time to write this at least we know what's happening and can be here to support you should you need to vent everything out on the blog. I can only wish you the best with all that is currently happening in your life, you will get through it, I promise but something will have to "give". I trust you have been in touch with health care professionals for help and support and that if you have siblings, they are pulling their weight xxx

  5. I'm so sorry to hear that you're having a difficult time. My mother had dementia, so I fully understand how hard that is for you. I hope you're getting the support you need from friends and other family members. Don't think you're not keeping up with the other bloggers ... we're not in a race! We're just shooting the breeze with each other about things to come into our minds .. often fashion I'll grant you, but just as often it can be something and nothing. So if you've nobody else to rant to, use this as your outlet. Thinking of you, Helen

  6. Sorry to hear life is so tough for you at the moment! My elderly mother is on her own now after my dad's death and the constant worrying gets me down too at times! Some days I just log on to read all the other lovely blog posts and switch off from reality for a little bit. Hope it gets a bit easier for you soon:)

  7. Oh sweetheart - hang on in there - we're all here for you!! A great idea though to diversify the blog - so many others may be going through the same thing and it might help you see the brighter side of it! xxx

  10. I am not a blogger but I do love visiting your blog as your style always seems more down to earth and accessible and wearable. Love that you just seem to try stuff on and send pics to see what others think and then tell us what you actually bought. Maybe....just blog what your wearing each day......if anything it might just keep you going a bit. Maybe....x

  12. I have only just started looking at blogs, looking for inspiration after having a lot of health issues and being housebound a lot so I am with you. Life is hard you sound like you have a lot on your plate so don't worry about blogging, use it as a forum for help and support. We are all women together and sometimes other things get in the way but people understand
