How to look like a sack of spuds

My new cashmere poncho arrived from White Company today, to much glee.

Sadly I was rather underwhelmed when I unwrapped it, for the tissue and the poncho were both very crumpled and looked as if it had come to me straight from the hands of another customer who had returned it with none too much care in the wrapping.  Frankly for £112 I expected better.

Moving onto the trying on session...
Pros:  warm, soft and covers a multitude of sins.
Cons: possibly also equal boring and shapeless (not to mention, amongst my colour palette, beige is fast becoming ubiquitous).

Soft as a baby's bum however, and no doubt will be very cosy.  So far so good on the practicality front. I am not 100% convinced that it doesn't make me look like I've gained 10lb overnight however.

Maybe I just need to get used to the loose cape-like look.  Or exchange for a smaller (and hopefully better packed) version...?

At least beige doesn't look black when I take the picture...

Worn with:
Zara jeans and Primark wedge boots (not that these show up of course!!)

  1. I hare it when you spend a fortune and it looks like any other purchase. It is a nice colour but for a prcieir garment I always want to feel extra special when I am wearing it.

  2. Hmmm. I wouldn't be happy if a package that I was spending that much money on came in a crumpled state. Infact, when I order online, I expect everything to be pristine - almost untouched by human hands. The poncho is probably lovely in real life and in colour but I am a little unconvinced as I have seen you in nicer clothes which are more fitted. I'm guilty of doing that thing where it's nice and easy to hide behind a big item when you're not feeling at your best but the best thing you can do for yourself is to wear something nice and more fitted. You have the perfect figure for the tea dresses - put a nice warm cardigan over one of those instead. Oh yes and you can take everything I say with a pinch of salt - I don't always practice what I preach. Be sure I will be wearing a huge fleece or a poncho in a forthcoming post!

  3. I imagine after paying that price for it you would want to feel very comfortable wearing the garment! I would like to see it on in person as it is sometimes hard to judge from photos...different angles often give the wrong idea:)

  5. Not sure I'm convinced either. As lovely as the colour and feel may be, perhaps you could get that in a sweater that's more fitted? But then, I'm not a poncho fan so I'd be biased against them anyway. Looks nicer with the snood btw.
